Why VPS-4-ALL

Most hosts still start customers on shared hosting: hundreds of sites on one server, all competing for the same CPU and memory. One busy or compromised neighbor can slow down, or expose, everyone else. It's cheap to sell, but it isn't good for your site.

We believe every website deserves its own VPS. VPS-4-ALL is our campaign to make that the standard, and to help make shared hosting a thing of the past.

Why we're crowdfunding

Web7 Technologies is privately owned and bootstrapped. We've never taken investor money, and that's exactly why we can put customers first. It also means we pay for every server out of our own revenue.

Right now that's a problem. Memory prices have climbed sharply, and the RAM for our next generation of high-clock servers costs far more than it did even a year ago. We could raise prices or cut corners. We'd rather ask the people who'll actually use those servers to help us build them.

So here's the deal: back the campaign, and you get hosting from day one plus our WP Pro 4 plan at $300/yr for life, normally $456/yr. That's $156 saved every year you host with us.

Because we're bootstrapped, our customers are our only funding. When you back VPS-4-ALL, you're not just buying hosting. You're helping build Web7 itself, which makes you a founder in a very real sense. That's why we call our backers Founding Backers.

You're also helping build something bigger than one company: a web where a fast, isolated VPS is the standard, and shared hosting is no longer used.

You're hosting from the moment you back us. Here's how your server changes when your upgrade arrives:

Milestones

The more backers join, the more every backer gets, including those who joined first. Milestone rewards apply to everyone.

* What "right away" means: we start building the new server as soon as we reach 50 backers. We build our servers ourselves, so timing depends on parts availability, and each server takes a few days to configure and test before it goes live. We expect the new server to be online within two weeks of reaching 50 backers. Then we migrate backers in the order they signed up, so the earliest backers move first. While we build, we'll send regular time estimates, and we'll let you know if anything changes.

Where the money goes

Campaign funds go toward the memory and hardware for the high-clock servers that will run WP Pro 4 plans in our SOC 2 certified data center in Albuquerque. It's hardware we own and run ourselves, not capacity rented from someone else.

Risks and challenges

Hardware prices and supply can change quickly, and that's the biggest risk to any timeline. We've built the campaign so that risk sits with us, not you:

• You get hosting immediately. Your WP Basic 4 server is live the day you back us, so you're never paying for nothing.
• Your upgrade is guaranteed within 6 months, whether or not we reach 50 backers.
• Your price is locked at $300/yr for life, even if the campaign falls short of its goal.

If something does affect delivery, we'll tell backers directly by email, and post updates on this page.
