Website Hosting

Shared Web Hosting is the most common type of web hosting. It simply means that your website will “share” the server and its resources with other websites.

You can think of shared hosting like living in a large apartment building. Though each resident has their own private apartment, the residents share the building, walkways, parking lot, Etc.

On shared hosting plans; the hard drives, memory, and processing power, are all shared among the websites.

But just like an apartment neighbor throwing a party might take up all the parking spaces, websites on shared hosting plans that have a lot of traffic could take resources away from other websites, thus slowing them down. It’s for this reason shared hosting plans are only recommended for small or new websites.

VPS Web Hosting is the middle ground between shared hosting and dedicated server hosting. VPS stands for “Virtual Private Server” which means it will appear as if your website has it’s very own private server. This is achieved by taking a physical server and distributing a fixed set of resources to a single website. (Unlike shared hosting where resources are shared by all.)

VPS Web Hosting is the best option for the majority of all websites as it has great performance and lets you easily scale up as your site grows.

Dedicated Web Hosting means you have an entire computer server “dedicated” just to you! Servers can cost $5K-$20K each, so the cost of dedicated web hosting is more expensive than shared hosting.

Dedicated web hosting really is only needed by large businesses that have very high web traffic, or for businesses that need to meet regulatory compliances such as HIPAA.

Traditionally web design and web hosting companies are totally separate from each other. Web7 is the best of both worlds as we combined the two services into a single web company.

“Web Design” is the process of building a website to look pleasing as well as functionally easy to use. Adding photos, writing text, and creating the layout are all apart of web design.

“Web Hosting” is a service that involves taking someone’s “website design” which consists of files and code, and having them live on a computer server so that the website is accessible by the public.

Security & Redundancy

Yes! ALL, of our hosting plans include DDoS protection. We’ve chosen Cloudflare as our DDoS protection provider as they have a proven track record of stopping some of the largest DDoS attacks in history. The Cloudflare network sits between our severs and the internet. This means that when such attacks occur that our servers are not impacted, and if they are, that impact is minimal.

The reality is that digital threats are always evolving and can’t be stopped 100%. However Web7 has a great set of tools in place that will greatly reduce the chances of your site being impacted by DDoS & other digital threats.
